INFP (Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving)

Idealists, Healers

Introverts - tend to be quiet and reserved, preferring to interact with a few close friends rather than a wide circle of acquaintances, and expend energy in social situations (as opposed to Extraverts to tend to gain energy in social situtations)
Intuitives - tend to focus on the big picture instead of details and the future rather than the present
Feelers - tend to rely on a personal, internal sense of right and wrong rather than external, objective criteria. They tend to make decisions based on feelings and social considerations rather than logic.
Perceivers - tend to withhold judgment and delay important decisions, preferring to "keep their options open" should circumstances change.

INFPs, on the outside, appear tranquil and reserved. This helps to mask their passionate inner life - an INFP focuses most of their energy on an inner world that is dominated by intense feeling and deelply held values and often pursue these causes with selfless devotion. They strive for an external life that keeps these values intact. INFPs are extremely loyal to the people and causes that are important to them and they have no trouble spotting opportunities to implement their ideals. They work to understand people around them and are laid back, accepting, and flexible, except when their values are threatened.

Because INFP's occur in only about one percent of the population, it's understandable that they can easily feel isolated. They often wonder what is wrong with them when they find what they value (harmony and integrity and seeking unity of mind, body, and spirit) doesn't fit with the more concrete pursuits of the rest of the world. There is nothing wrong with them, however. These differences are in fact some of their greatest strengths.

Cognitive Functions

Dominant - Introverted Feeling (Fi): INFPs live primarily in a rich inner world of emotion
Auxiliary - Extroverted Intuition (Ne): INFPs engage the outside world primarily with intuition, adept at seeing the big picture, sensing patterns and the flow of existence from the past toward the future
Tertiary - Introverted Sensing (Si): INFPs have a natural inclination toward absent-mindedness and are more easily distracted than others.
Inferior - Extroverted Thinking (Te): INFPs focus on external details, but being the inferior function, this requires the expenditure of energy so it's not often used.
